Akut Smerte helps the clinician (e.g. the doctor or nurse) to quickly and safely convert between different doses of morphine preparations (opioids), both for the patient with acute pain and for the chronic pain patient. In addition, the application helps with pain scoring and recording of pain medical history (anamnesis) and contains a compendium with background knowledge on Akut Smerte treatment. Akut Smerte contains information regarding the treatment of adult patients.
Based on the patients' current opioid treatment, it is possible to convert between most of the opioids registered in Denmark. The calculator can also calculate indicative doses for the treatment of breakthrough pain (pn doses). The application automatically receives data from medicin.dk and is thus always updated with the latest trade names for opioids.
Akut Smerte was developed in the Anesthesia and Surgery Clinic, HovedOrthoCentret, Rigshospitalet by chief physician Ole Mathiesen and project nurses Birgitte Kitter and Anja Geisler, Unit for Akut Smerte Treatment, as well as anesthesiologists Christian Svane and Michael Friis Tvede.
